Done!!

We reached our goal! Finished the 13 week running program! Actually, we stopped following the program after 12 weeks because it started winding down and we wanted to continue at a stable and steady rate. I'm so excited that we did it!! Yay!! We start swimming tomorrow! Hubby is not excited about this. I kinda am. It's been a long time since I've been in the water... Yes, I take showers and baths. I don't mean that. I mean that it's been a long time since I've gone and actually SWAM laps. I'm usually holding onto one of my kids, or their float boards, or noodles, or tossing rings for them to dive for. Tomorrow is just for me! And Hubby... He's not very excited about it, but I am!

Halloween, birthdays and missing teeth....

Image
'It'sa meee, Maaario!' The brat as a Bratz.  How appropriate! My bella Bella...without the vampire teeth. Our blingy little pumpkin. Halloween also happens to be Hubby's birthday.  I love the story he tells about his first Halloween in Canada.  They don't celebrate Halloween in Japan so when he came to Canada and opened the door to trick or treaters, he didn't know to give them candy.  Instead, he thought they were bringing him a gift so he reached into the bag and took out one of their candies.  Can you imagine the look on the trick or treaters' faces?  Can you imagine my hubs instant love for this country?  I mean here they are, bringing him gifts on his birthday and they don't even know him!  He said that after the second kid knocked on the door he figured it out. I love it! Pictures, of course, of Hub and all of us.  Note that Zee has...

Phew, that was close!

It's kind of ironic really. 10 years ago today we brought Kiki home from the hospital after her difficult surgery and long recovery and if tonight's events had have gone differently we would have been back at that hospital. It was raining and dark. Shoppers were rushing home with their treasures (HUGE sale at Payless Shoes today!). There was a big truck. There was a child in the driver's blind spot. My child! Kiki stepped down from the curb and the truck seemed to pause to let her pass but suddenly revved the engine and shot forward.  I was able to grab her and pull her out of the way before the truck even noticed her.  After slamming on his brakes, he gathered himself for a second and drove off. No stopping to see if we were okay. (Thank you to the car behind him who did roll down the window and inquire.) No apology. No nothing. Kiki said she was literally scared stiff; she couldn't move even though she wanted to. This pickup truck was a super size...

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth....

Image
...is the song my boy's going to be singing come Dec. 25. Yesterday he lost one of his two wiggly front teeth. I'm very sad about it. You see, it was his 'special' tooth. The one that was different. The unique one. The one that made Zee Zee. His tooth was a fused, double tooth. It was very big and very cute. (Here it is after he twisted it) It's gone! And I am sad. What the heck is wrong with me? Now instead of looking adorable and kooky, Zee looks like a regular boy who happens to look like he got punched in the kisser and blew a tooth. I'm not usually sentimental about my babies growing up. In fact, I'm the first to apply my foot firmly to their butt and kick them out the door. This time it's different. Is it because he's my last? Or is he? Last night I dreamed I was pregnant. Hugely pregnant! Wonder what that was all about? Ideas anyone? Don't grow up too fast my baby, Momma still needs more of this cute-little-boy cuddle time!

Hi Ho, Hi Ho...

It's off to Disneyland we go! Finally! We've been talking about it for years but now, because Mo and her dance group are going to be performing at Disneyland, we've finally got the impetus we've needed to go! We like to procrastinate. I'd tell you all about how bad we are with procrastinating but I'll do it tomorrow. Maybe. Okay. Focus. Disneyland! Did I mention that we're going?! We are! Finally! Whoops, besides procrastinating, I also like to repeat myself. Sometimes in different ways, but I always say things more than once. Just to make sure you got it. Did you? Get it, that is? We're going to Disneyland ! And we're really excited!! I sure hope we get to see... Mickey and his beautiful wife, Minnie: Nemo and Dory because I speak 'whale' and have short term memory loss so Dory and I are kindred spirits. Did I mention that I like to repeat things? I do! I really feel a connection to Dory. Wall-E, beca...

Leaf it to me...

Image
I love the beauty of Autumn. The colors of the leaves always make me feel that God is wrapping the earth up in a big, multi-colored package and offering us a gift of His love and artistry. The falling leaves calm me, sadden me a little, and yet renew and enliven me. Autumn brings me peace and an urge to button up, hunker down, and embrace the love and beauty that is in my family and in my circle of friends. Autumn makes me appreciate all that I have been given and brings me a spiritual awareness. Spring does that too. So does Summer. Aw, who am I kidding? Winter does it too! I'm constantly in awe of the Lord's canvas, His palette and the gifts He constantly places at our footsteps. I'm grateful. I'm honored. I'm humbled. ....all because of a perfect, orange, falling leaf. It's the small things that bring us the greatest pleasures. I hope you find yours today. Love 'n hugs to all... Enjoy all that God gives you. He has given you the world! Enjoy every bi...

Sick widdle boy...

My baby's sick. It breaks my heart. He's such a good patient. He just lays on the 'sickie mattress' ,which is the special mattress we bring up from the storage room and plop on the living room floor in front of the TV, and snuggles in his Winnie the Pooh blankie, sips some water now and again, and watches TV. He asks for a hug periodically and sometimes he just wants company. I gladly oblige him his little requests for they're said with the sweetest, most pathetic little voice you could ever imagine. Whatever sickness he has (hope it's not H1N1) makes it very difficult for him to talk (sounds almost like laryngitis) but that doesn't stop him from thanking me and telling me he loves me after I've finished a little prayer on his behalf. So sweet! I could just cry. Tonight he gets to sleep in Mommy and Daddy's room on the sickie mattress, it's a little treat reserved especially for sick kids (keeps 'em outta my bed!), and makes the nighttim...
