Lapbooks!

Oh no...something else to distract me from the laundry, cooking, cleaning and other household chores that I abhor! Lapbooks!! I've just recently learned about this new phenomenon and am now in the throes of planning, organizing and creating! I remember getting this way about File Folder games years ago....I spent so much time coloring and laminating them but it was so worth it because my kids still use them. The first book I'm putting together is to help my kids memorize the Articles of Faith. I've got my clipart and my ideas...now I just have to stick them all together and see how it's received and how well it works. Another great thing about lapbooks is the kids can compile them to serve as reviews for their school work...history, latin vocabulary, scripture memorization, unit studies...oh, the possibilities are endless! Somebody stop me!!!!

Zee's First Reading Lesson...

Zee was so proud of himself after reading his first 'story' today in the Hooked on Phonics program. I was so pleased that he actually sat still for the lesson as the other programs I tried (How to teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons AND Bob's Books) sent him squirming off my lap in 10.2 seconds flat! The girls were so excited for him that they grabbed the still camera and the video camera to capture the moment for all his family and friends to see! Enjoy!

Description of my mind.....

I was reading Chronicles of Narnia (The Horse and His Boy) today to the kids and I came across this... "And anyone I catch talking about this young lady will be first beaten to death and then burned alive and after that be kept on bread and water for six weeks. There." I strongly resemble this thinking process! My brain thinks in a completely random fashion and the words that it pushes out of my mouth rarely exit in an orderly format or even a comprehensive one! Thanks to C.S. Lewis for nailing it for me!
