PNE

Yes, the PNE is over. Yes, Summer is over. Yes, I am tardy in getting my posts out. Deal. Here are some pix of our day at the PNE. We had a great time and lots of laughs at Zee's expense. He's such a drama queen! That's us on Crazy Beach Party.  I didn't ride as much as I used to--am getting old; tummy doesn't like; makes brain spinny.   Don't need more of that. Zee and me on the Tilt a Whirl.  His favorite ride.  I swear the guy running the thing fell asleep (or was stoned out of his tree) because he left us on for over 10 minutes.  Thought I was going to puke!  Even Zee was bored by the end of the ride. Okay, how funny is this?  Zee is terrified of heights but he decided to try the mini hellevator anyway.  Oh my gosh, the look of terror on his face and his screams had us literally peeing our pants.  So funny!! Artsy fartsy shot.  Kiki on the swings. Squished much?  Love this one--Kiki l...

As a family, we like to have 'date' days where one kid gets to spend a special day alone with either mom or dad. About a year ago, I took Kiki to a ceramics store for our date and ever since then Zee has been asking to go there for his date day with me. Well, one day, my 'sista' and I had planned a surprise day out for the kids at one of our many islands. We were going to take the ferry over, go for lunch and explore all the artisan kiosks. As it so happens, life stepped in and changed our plans so we frantically tried to find something else that would be a fun day for the kids...after all we had spent the entire week before telling them about our fun surprise Wednesday activity so they were stoked to do something FUN! We thought about the beach but the weather was crappy. The mall? Nah, too normal. How about a shopping trip to the US? Nah, too late in the day...the border line ups would be horrendous. We were running out of options, what could we do? Ent...

Feasts, Fireworks and Fast-ness, Oh My!

Image
What an incredible weekend! First we started out with a visit to the Richmond Night Market where we tried all kinds of wonderful Asian food...from spicy squid to onion cakes to steamed pork buns. Zee, our boy who survives only on peanut butter sandwiches, decided to broaden his horizons and ate squid! I just about fell off my chair! He tried gyoza too but stopped after one nibble when he discovered it had shrimp in it. Go figure. "Um, no thanks!" Oh, yummy, yummy...potatoes on a stick.  The red ones have ketchup on them and the white ones have cheddar.  Sinful! Deep Fried STINKY tofu?! NO thanks! Looooong line ups! Finished eating, now it's time to shop! The next night we took the kids to Canada's Fireworks display at the Celebration of Light in the beautiful and scenic English Bay. Although China was the winner of the competition, Canada put forth a great effort and their presentation to John Lennon's Imagine ...

The Best Ice Cream in the WORLD!!

Image
Last week I took Zee and his friend to White Rock to run some errands with me and I promised them that if they were patient while I was trying on some suits for the triathlon and picking up my race package, that I would take them out for Andy's ice cream. Zee's friend was more than happy to oblige as he said that Andy's is the 'best ice cream in the world.' "I thought Marble Slab Creamery was the best ice cream in the world," my kids retorted. "Nope," said Friend. "ANDY'S is the best!" "Mmmm...can't wait," I heard my kids say as they wiped drool off their faces. Fast forward to two hours later....I've got my new one piece outfit for the triathlon (you can swim, bike, AND run in it); some energy candies; a race belt; and we've gone to Fieldstone Bakery in Crescent Beach to get raspberry/white chocolate scones, and two pieces of chocolate cake (needed these items for our anniversary)...and now it's t...
