How is it possible that you are 12 years old already?

Wasn't it just yesterday that I ran across the street to my neighbors house clutching a positive pregnancy test  to show her for confirmation?
Wasn't it just yesterday that you took me from 5cm to 10cm in 10 minutes?
Wasn't it just yesterday that you lay on the baby bassinet all calm, slightly purple, sucking your fingers and having a worried doctor examine your heart and lung sounds?
Wasn't it just yesterday that the operating staff wheeled you down the hallway in your little onsie, knitted green hat and a soother in your mouth to fix your heart?
Wasn't it just yesterday that the surgeons kept sending out a messenger to tell us that they had run into complications and that you were going to die?

No, it wasn't.

In fact, it was 12 years ago!!

How happy I am to see your smile everyday. It reminds me of the miracle that you are.
How I love your strong and independent nature.  It reminds me that you are here because you are a fighter.
How I love your little giggle. It reminds me thank God for you.
How I love your sense of humor. It reminds me to laugh more.
How I love it when I hug you and my whole body fills with goodness and warmth. It reminds me that you are my gift.
How I love YOU!!

Before I became a Mommy I was a working girl. And when I was a working girl, I was a GOOD smelling working girl. I had my favorites--Tresor, Poison, Giorgio, Ysatis, Tuscany per Donna, Eternity by Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis and Alfred Sung. I had so many perfumes--and I loved them all! Then I became a Mommy and I did away with all my perfumed-ness. Why? I guess I didn't want my baby to have to breathe all that while s/he was trying to nurse. Perfumed flavored milk? Yucky! And...I never went out so why did I need to smell pretty? Wasn't smelling like breast milk, puke and baby poop enough of a sensory overload? Now I'm two things: Mommy and Working Girl. But I'm not a breastfeeding Mommy so you know what that means... BRING ON THE PERFUME!! The other day I went to the store and I was bowled over by the choices! The earth stood still today. No, it wasn't because the planets were aligned. No, it wasn't because yesterday's date was 10/10/10 (which happens only once every 1000 years) No, it wasn't because the month of October has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays, in it which, according to Facebook (and we know how reliable that is),only happens once every 823 years. No, it was more phenomenal then all of that. It was because I ironed. Sheets. Yes, I actually ironed sheets. Now, you need to understand that I only pick up my iron to move it from one location to another. Typically if something needs ironing one of three things happens: 1. it stays wrinkled 2. it hangs in my closet until gravity pulls the wrinkles out over time 3. I go and buy a new item of clothing. I just don't iron! So why did I do it today, you may ask? It was my front load washer and dryer's fault. It made Kiki's new bedding so wrinkly that I just could not stand to let

Well if this doesn't completely rock your socks then I don't know what will: Taylor Lautner AND Tom Cruise staring in a movie.. together l  And it's about airplanes!   It's TOP GUN all over again people!  I'm just too excited for words. Now, yes, I admit, Tom did crash and burn in my books after the couch incident on Oprah; and after marrying Katie whats-her-name, but all in all, I still like him.  As long as he doesn't open his mouth except to speak his lines in a movie. And Taylor Lautner.  I know, right?  What a beauty!  I don't have a crush or anything on him (puhlease, I could be his MOTHER!) but my eyes do appreciate the view when he's on the screen.  Yes, my eyes, and ONLY my eyes.  Now, as far as crushes go, you need to talk to my daughter.   Taylor adorns practically every inch of her bedroom walls.
