You may remember our Black Friday escapade last November? (If you are a new reader, or have a short memory, click HERE for a recap) Anyway, last November as we parked our very hungry butts in the booth at Maggiano's Miss Kay came up with the amazing idea that we should all re-assemble in July, take a three hour drive down to the US, shop and have dinner at Maggiano's to celebrate our birthdays. All 5 of us agreed...because really, July seemed soooo far away that it was easy to say "SURE!"...and we all forgot about it.

But not Miss Kay who, I might add, has a memory that would make an elephant hide it's brain in shame. June rolled around and out popped an email from Miss Kay reminding us of our plan. Well, we all juggled our schedules to make things work and in July we found ourselves breaking out in the early dawn, armed with Starbucks, a catchy music CD, a van and a lot of excitement. Yes, we shopped 'til we dropped, yes we all got schmexy pedicures, and yes we ate dinner at Maggiano's!




And yes, we came up with a new name for ourselves: Let it forever be known that we, Black Friday Shoppers Extraordinaire, are from this day forward to be known as...dun, dun, duuuun....THE SHOPPING BAGS.


And this time, as we all sat with over stuffed bellies and promises to our bodies that we would never eat again, when Miss Kay suggested that we reconvene again in November at Maggiano's, we seriously discussed whether we should make a blood promise--you know, the one where you slash your hand, like in Robin Hood: Prince of Theives, and vow on your life to meet again come hell or high water? Yeah, that one. Well, I'm pretty sure we would have done it but we were all too full and happy to find the obligatory knife to use for the slashing.

So instead we all just spat into a diet coke and sipped from it.

You gotta do what you gotta do....

The earth stood still today. No, it wasn't because the planets were aligned. Well if this doesn't completely rock your socks then I don't know what will: Taylor Lautner AND Tom Cruise staring in a movie.. together l  And it's about airplanes!   It's TOP GUN all over again people!  I'm just too excited for words. Now, yes, I admit, Tom did crash and burn in my books after the couch incident on Oprah; and after marrying Katie whats-her-name, but all in all, I still like him.  As long as he doesn't open his mouth except to speak his lines in a movie. And Taylor Lautner.  I know, right?  What a beauty!  I don't have a crush or anything on him (puhlease, I could be his MOTHER!) but my eyes do appreciate the view when he's on the screen.  Yes, my eyes, and ONLY my eyes.  Now, as far as crushes go, you need to talk to my daughter.   Taylor adorns practically every inch of her bedroom walls. Happy 20th Anniversary to Us!!

Yeah, so the old man and I have been hitched for 20 years today.  Been together for 30 years (yes, we started dating when we were BABIES!) and yes, I have been with him for more than 1/2 of my life.  That's pretty crazy when you think of it...he's been there for EVERY major milestone of my life, and I for his.  It's pretty hard for either of us to pull a 'remember when' memory from a period of our lives in which the other person wasn't present.  Oh sure we went off and did things separately, like I lifeguarded for 2 summers in a little town in the Interior, and he lived in the Okanagan for about a year, and he climbed mountains with friends and did hikes that I wasn't part of,  but we were still a couple.   We started dating when I was 14 and he was 17--I had to get special permission from my parents to date him because I wasn't allowed until I was 16.  I remember the discussion quite vividly and my parents agreed to allow him to come over, and to take
