Clothes!!

Okay so today I'm 'standing for something' not terribly philanthropic, alturistic or even environmental, but it sure is something fun!

I've fallen back in love with CLOTHES! And...believe it or not...ironing! Now if you know me, you will know that I am NOT, I repeat NOT, an ironer. In the 12 years since my kids have been born I have maybe picked up an iron 5 times. In the past if it's been wrinkled, I wear it, or I buy a new one. Yep...that's me.

So anyway...turned over a new leaf.

Now that the kids are back in school I discovered that I am living in a mini Hollywood. The moms are gorgeous, skinny and dress like they are movie stars. I gotta fit in...don't want to stand out in my Costco yoga pants (that are worn out and getting fuzzy) and my 5 dollar t-shirts...so I started shopping. Wow...did that unleash the beast!!! I am having sooooo much fun buying new pants, sweaters, leather jackets, boots etc. that I find I haven't needed nearly as much chocolate in my life. Or any sweets for that matter. I guess I was filling a void....a shopping void.

Anyway, so with these new clothes comes the desire to keep them looking pretty so...out came the iron. Now I'm ironing everything...my hubby's t-shirts, Zack's jean shorts and rugby pants...and soon it'll be pillow cases; sheets; underwear....anything!

I can't understand the insanity. But you know what? I'm just going with it. For now our clothes all look pretty and pressed.

For now...

We'll see how next week looks...

You are too funny! Okay, but what IS up with all those moms looking like supermodels at 8:30 am??!! I used to think the same - I can't show up in my sweats with my hair pulled back looking I just rolled out of bed (well, I had just rolled out of bed!!)... But now since I work, I too look all supermodel-ish at 8:30 am - bring the kids to school and then head straight to work.

You have this love for clothes. I have that love for shoes. If you have the perfect shoe, it makes everything work!! Oh ya. hee hee

The earth stood still today. No, it wasn't because the planets were aligned. No, it wasn't because yesterday's date was 10/10/10 (which happens only once every 1000 years) No, it wasn't because the month of October has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays, in it which, according to Facebook (and we know how reliable that is),only happens once every 823 years. Now, you need to understand that I only pick up my iron to move it from one location to another. Well if this doesn't completely rock your socks then I don't know what will: Taylor Lautner AND Tom Cruise staring in a movie.. together l  And it's about airplanes!   It's TOP GUN all over again people!  I'm just too excited for words. Now, yes, I admit, Tom did crash and burn in my books after the couch incident on Oprah; and after marrying Katie whats-her-name, but all in all, I still like him.  As long as he doesn't open his mouth except to speak his lines in a movie. And Taylor Lautner.  I know, right?  What a beauty!  I don't have a crush or anything on him (puhlease, I could be his MOTHER!) but my eyes do appreciate the view when he's on the screen.  Yes, my eyes, and ONLY my eyes.  Now, as far as crushes go, you need to talk to my daughter.   Taylor adorns practically every inch of her bedroom walls. Happy 20th Anniversary to Us!!

Yeah, so the old man and I have been hitched for 20 years today.  Been together for 30 years (yes, we started dating when we were BABIES!) and yes, I have been with him for more than 1/2 of my life.  That's pretty crazy when you think of it...he's been there for EVERY major milestone of my life, and I for his.  It's pretty hard for either of us to pull a 'remember when' memory from a period of our lives in which the other person wasn't present.  Oh sure we went off and did things separately, like I lifeguarded for 2 summers in a little town in the Interior, and he lived in the Okanagan for about a year, and he climbed mountains with friends and did hikes that I wasn't part of,  but we were still a couple.   We started dating when I was 14 and he was 17--I had to get special permission from my parents to date him because I wasn't allowed until I was 16.  I remember the discussion quite vividly and my parents agreed to allow him to come over, and to take
