I took Mackenzie shopping yesterday because her birthday money was burning a hole in her pocket and what do you think I saw?


Leg Warmers.


Lace fingerless gloves.


Faux glasses.


Halllooo....welcome to MY teenage years! The whole Madonna Wannabe look? I owned it! I had the ratty hair with the oversized headband/rag thing; the lace gloves (even wore black ones to my graduation) ; the leg warmers with the high heeled shoes! Holy fashion batman, I never thought THAT stuff would ever come back in style. I mean NEVER!


Now, don't get me wrong...I'm not about to run out and buy any of it for myself (although I must admit I really wanted to buy the glasses: they made me look really stylin' and SMART!) , but my kids are scooping this stuff up! Mackenzie and Morgan both have leg warmers and the cutsie dance socks...I know it's just a matter of time before the fingerless, lace gloves enter our home!


My girls better be careful...pretty soon I'll be stealing their accessories! Can you just picture it? A 40 year old lady with leg warmers and heels; fingerless lace gloves and a big ole' floppy rag/headband wearing her iPod and dancing to Madonna and blowing a big pink bubble....all while walking her three kids to school on a cold October morning?


Disturbing isn't it?


Aren't you glad we don't go to your school?!

The earth stood still today. No, it wasn't because the planets were aligned. No, it wasn't because yesterday's date was 10/10/10 (which happens only once every 1000 years) No, it wasn't because the month of October has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays, in it which, according to Facebook (and we know how reliable that is),only happens once every 823 years. Well if this doesn't completely rock your socks then I don't know what will: Taylor Lautner AND Tom Cruise staring in a movie.. together l  And it's about airplanes!   It's TOP GUN all over again people!  I'm just too excited for words. Now, yes, I admit, Tom did crash and burn in my books after the couch incident on Oprah; and after marrying Katie whats-her-name, but all in all, I still like him.  As long as he doesn't open his mouth except to speak his lines in a movie. And Taylor Lautner.  I know, right?  What a beauty!  I don't have a crush or anything on him (puhlease, I could be his MOTHER!) but my eyes do appreciate the view when he's on the screen.  Yes, my eyes, and ONLY my eyes.  Now, as far as crushes go, you need to talk to my daughter.   Taylor adorns practically every inch of her bedroom walls. Happy 20th Anniversary to Us!!

Yeah, so the old man and I have been hitched for 20 years today.  Been together for 30 years (yes, we started dating when we were BABIES!) and yes, I have been with him for more than 1/2 of my life.  That's pretty crazy when you think of it...he's been there for EVERY major milestone of my life, and I for his.  It's pretty hard for either of us to pull a 'remember when' memory from a period of our lives in which the other person wasn't present.  Oh sure we went off and did things separately, like I lifeguarded for 2 summers in a little town in the Interior, and he lived in the Okanagan for about a year, and he climbed mountains with friends and did hikes that I wasn't part of,  but we were still a couple.   We started dating when I was 14 and he was 17--I had to get special permission from my parents to date him because I wasn't allowed until I was 16.  I remember the discussion quite vividly and my parents agreed to allow him to come over, and to take
