The ties that bind....

Or in this case, it's the screws that bind. Hubby and Zee built a chair together this weekend as they shared some special father/son time. Such precious moments.




I took the girls out to Starbucks for a Strawberries 'n cream smoothie-type drink and a gigantic ginger snap cookie. If you've never tried these cookies be sure to put it on your 'To Do' list this summer. They are heavenly! We enjoyed our special time together and had some meaningful discussions.


Yesterday we ventured to G- Island. It's so beautiful there! We need to go more often. I swear these birds were dancing! The music and their flight were in perfect sych...it was magical! Even Zee recognized the beauty of it.



Daddy Update:

My dad is doing better physically (his fingers are horribly mangled and he is now considered an amputee as he lost up to the first knuckle of his ring finger on his left hand) but emotionally he is stuggling...very upset and angry with himself. He is a brilliant artist (his medium is wood), and now he joins the ranks of the elite: missing appendages is a rite of passage, afterall, look at Van Gogh! I realize it's comparing ears to fingers but hey...they're all appendages to me! Take care Dad...we love you!

The earth stood still today. No, it wasn't because the planets were aligned. No, it wasn't because yesterday's date was 10/10/10 (which happens only once every 1000 years) No, it wasn't because the month of October has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays, in it which, according to Facebook (and we know how reliable that is),only happens once every 823 years. Well if this doesn't completely rock your socks then I don't know what will: Taylor Lautner AND Tom Cruise staring in a movie.. together l  And it's about airplanes!   It's TOP GUN all over again people!  I'm just too excited for words. Now, yes, I admit, Tom did crash and burn in my books after the couch incident on Oprah; and after marrying Katie whats-her-name, but all in all, I still like him.  As long as he doesn't open his mouth except to speak his lines in a movie. And Taylor Lautner.  I know, right?  What a beauty!  I don't have a crush or anything on him (puhlease, I could be his MOTHER!) but my eyes do appreciate the view when he's on the screen.  Yes, my eyes, and ONLY my eyes.  Now, as far as crushes go, you need to talk to my daughter.   Taylor adorns practically every inch of her bedroom walls. Happy 20th Anniversary to Us!!

Yeah, so the old man and I have been hitched for 20 years today.  Been together for 30 years (yes, we started dating when we were BABIES!) and yes, I have been with him for more than 1/2 of my life.  That's pretty crazy when you think of it...he's been there for EVERY major milestone of my life, and I for his.  It's pretty hard for either of us to pull a 'remember when' memory from a period of our lives in which the other person wasn't present.  Oh sure we went off and did things separately, like I lifeguarded for 2 summers in a little town in the Interior, and he lived in the Okanagan for about a year, and he climbed mountains with friends and did hikes that I wasn't part of,  but we were still a couple.   We started dating when I was 14 and he was 17--I had to get special permission from my parents to date him because I wasn't allowed until I was 16.  I remember the discussion quite vividly and my parents agreed to allow him to come over, and to take
