Hello? Summer? Are you there?

It's July 22 and I am sitting at home in a hoodie, long pants and socks.

I am also wrapped up in a fleece blanket.

Oh, and did I mention that I just switched the furnace from A/C to HEAT?!

What the heck? Where did our summer go? Actually, more realistically is not where it went because that would imply that we had a semblance of summer when in actuality we have not, so I think it would be more accurate to ask, "Summer, when are you coming?"

C'mon, Summer, we only have 6 weeks until the kids go back to school and all our plans of hiking various parks, climbing the Grouse Grind and the Chief, and spending a lazy summer day at Whytecliffs park are going to be shot! I'll say this in my nastiest, exorcist-like, growly voice while I stamp my feet, " I want some summer NOW!!" *POUTS and spins head around*

I said...NOW!!!

Before I became a Mommy I was a working girl. And when I was a working girl, I was a GOOD smelling working girl. I had my favorites--Tresor, Poison, Giorgio, Ysatis, Tuscany per Donna, Eternity by Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis and Alfred Sung. I had so many perfumes--and I loved them all! Then I became a Mommy and I did away with all my perfumed-ness. Why? I guess I didn't want my baby to have to breathe all that while s/he was trying to nurse. Perfumed flavored milk? Yucky! And...I never went out so why did I need to smell pretty? Wasn't smelling like breast milk, puke and baby poop enough of a sensory overload? Now I'm two things: Mommy and Working Girl. But I'm not a breastfeeding Mommy so you know what that means... BRING ON THE PERFUME!! The other day I went to the store and I was bowled over by the choices! The earth stood still today. No, it wasn't because the planets were aligned. No, it wasn't because yesterday's date was 10/10/10 (which happens only once every 1000 years) No, it wasn't because the month of October has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays, in it which, according to Facebook (and we know how reliable that is),only happens once every 823 years. No, it was more phenomenal then all of that. It was because I ironed. Sheets. Yes, I actually ironed sheets. Now, you need to understand that I only pick up my iron to move it from one location to another. Typically if something needs ironing one of three things happens: 1. it stays wrinkled 2. it hangs in my closet until gravity pulls the wrinkles out over time 3. I go and buy a new item of clothing. Well if this doesn't completely rock your socks then I don't know what will: Taylor Lautner AND Tom Cruise staring in a movie.. together l  And it's about airplanes!   It's TOP GUN all over again people!  I'm just too excited for words. Now, yes, I admit, Tom did crash and burn in my books after the couch incident on Oprah; and after marrying Katie whats-her-name, but all in all, I still like him.  As long as he doesn't open his mouth except to speak his lines in a movie. And Taylor Lautner.  I know, right?  What a beauty!  I don't have a crush or anything on him (puhlease, I could be his MOTHER!) but my eyes do appreciate the view when he's on the screen.  Yes, my eyes, and ONLY my eyes.  Now, as far as crushes go, you need to talk to my daughter.   Taylor adorns practically every inch of her bedroom walls.
